Description: Small booklet of 44 pages titled "Facts About The Two Armed Marches On Logan." Published in 1962, it is an early effort to tell the capsulize the story of the Battle of Blair Mountain, a central event in the West Virginia Mine Wars in which UMWA coal miners marched into a non-union area in West Virginia to forcibly open it to union organization. The author, George T Swain, lived from 1886 - 1982 and had first-hand knowledge about his subject, interviewing at least one of the principals personally. It's a very readable account and does deliver on its promise to include quite a few facts about the event. A small but solid contribution to the history of an event whose significance and relevance far outweigh its modest fame so far. Thanks!
