Description: DETAILS: Vintage pinback button. Circa 1969. We believe that this button was issued by a feminist faction of the Communications Workers of America (CWA), Brooklyn, NY chapter sometime in the late 1960's. It's intent was to high gender pay equity and other forms of discrimination that female employs faced at the high tech telecommunications behemoth. Has an ingenious design incorporating the Bell Systems logo, the female symbol and an equal sign. In 1971 the CWA announced a nationwide strike against Ma Bell with gender discrimination being one of their main points of contention. Unfortunately female pay inequity and other forms of gender discrimination are still rampant to this day in high tech and telecommunications. Measures 1 1/2" inches. Rare. One of only two examples we have ever seen. GUARANTEE: We offer a lifetime guarantee on all of our items to be authentic originals issued by the organization stated. They are not later re-issues or reproductions. We forensically examine all of our items prior to listing to make certain they are authentic.
