Description: Item is in VERY GOOD Condition. It has very little shelf wear, even for a vintage paperback. The pages inside are in very good shape with no highlighting, marks, or writing; no dog-earing or bent pages. The inside cover does have a nameplate with a blacked-out name, but it doesn't detract from the high quality of the book. The laminated cover is in good shape with no scratches or tears; minimal to no fraying along the edges, but there is a bit more wear on the foot and crown of the spine from shelf rubbing. There is one small dent on the crown of the spine, but this is not obtrusive. There are mild creases along the spine, but the spine binding is tight, no loose pages, and in good shape.The spine is not broken in any place (please see pictures as they are part of the description). Overall, in VERY GOOD condition. This contains the journal entries, observations, and the travel writing of traveler Edwin Bryant about 1848 California. This is a reprint of the 1848 edition, reproduced here with a complete facsimile of the text of the journals, the title page, and the table of contents. This was a famous book in its time, and was popular as a guide to California and the overland routes to get there. A fascinating travel journal if you are interested in California history or the history of the American West.
