VTG FairField Felts 100% Virgin Wool Black Winter Cloche w/Feathers Original Box

Description: Prior owner wore this hat a few times, but mostly kept it stored in the original box. This hat is 100% black felted wool, perfect cloche with brim for fall or winter. Two black feathers are attached to the outside band that is also wool with a subtle staple in the back to fix the band to the hat. The hat is about a medium. It measures approximately 21 inches along the inside grosgrain ribbon that helps keep the hat's shape. If your head measures 20-22 inches around from just above your eyebrows, it should fit. The hat also is designed to fit the top of your head snugly. There are no attached pins or means to keep the hat secured during high winds. Plus, the felted wool picks up a lot of passing cat hair, lint, etc. that may be around your home. I brushed the hat thoroughly for the shoot, and the photos show what you'll receive. The hat box is original from Elizabeth's Darcel Exclusive. The previous owner said she thought she purchased the hat in the 1960s, but she doesn't remember where. The box is 11 inches in diameter and stands 9 inches tall and the lid has a gold rim. The logo with the red mask is printed on the lid as well as on the bottom of the box. Some vintage wear, including a dot of coffee stain on the top lid, is evident. Otherwise, really sturdy box for its age. The box can by carried by a sturdy yellow/gold twisted cord. Prior owner was a mezzo-soprano opera singer and never smoked. The boxed hat currently is stored in a non-smoking environment. Price includes hat and original box.
