Description: This amazing box is a unique piece of pottery made in Italy during the 1950s.-1960s from what I have researched. It seems as if Alvino Bagni is the possible maker as it is said his pieces that were marked with the Raymor importer name would have the number always start with a R. This has two exact painted signatures-one on top of the other which is a little odd but indicates a manufacturer error. When I was researching this textured box, I did find a few with the same textured pattern have sold years ago-none this exact color but they all seem to have no glaze on a bit of the raised design. Some of the boxes referred to this design as lava-not really sure that is what it is actually called. There are no chips or cracks but there are a few indentions in the clay inner box ring that are glazed around as shown in photos. Some scuffs on the raised design as shin in photos. A few spots inside and on the base that are slight discoloration in the glaze-maybe from age. These small imperfections just add to the character even though they are not really noticeable. The box measures 6 inches in length, 4 1/4 inches in width, and 2 1/4 inches in height, making it an ideal item for storing small valuables or as a decorative display. Alvino Bagni is one of the greatest Italian potters and is shown in his impeccable pieces of art just like this box.
