In researching this piece I learned a little about the nursery rhyme. The "pig" that Tom stole and ate was actually an apple stuffed pastry that was called a PIG and not animal. This nursery song has been sung since 1795. Here is one version of the nursery rhyme Tom, Tom, the piper's son, Stole a pig, and away did run.
