Description: For sale is a vintage cigarette dispenser made in occupied Japan between 1945 and 1952. The device is very well built and has some super complex mechanisms and precise engineering still functional on the inside, and two dogs represented on the lid. Cigarettes are loaded into the top section after sliding the door open horizontally. The front drawer is then opened by hand, and a single cigarette is raised by spring loaded arms into the mouth of the carved dogs head on the front of the box. When the drawer pulls itself shut, (via the same spring mechanism) the dispensed cigarette is left in the carved wooden dogs mouth, and another is readied inside the box for the next dispense. Box is 4 inches long, 4 inches wide, and a hair under 3 inches tall. Everything in the box is 100% original and the mechanism still functions well. The close up photo shows what you can see of the spring mechanism on the inside. Item has never been cleaned other than dusting with a cloth.
