Description: Here we have a beautiful hand made, carved wood Fish decoy, possibly a Walleye, from the Lake St. Clair, Michigan region. Circa 1940's. Presenting with painted metal fins, glass eyes, and featuring many of the well made qualities and life-like details seen in Fish from the region. Painted a light grey all along the belly, which rises up the sides, quickly transitioning into a deep green-black which goes on over the back. 8 " long, and very heavy. The Fish is in good condition, with signs of use or ware, and a patina appropriate to its fine old age. Possibly we have a mix of original and working over-coat in areas. Hard to tell; but the grey on the belly and green around the head regions could be old, but repainted. Nevertheless, a fantastic Beauty, from a very coveted and legendary region, where older pieces are very thin on the ground. A rare piece of History out of Michigan. I have adding a small packing and materials fee.
