Description: For sale is an early first-edition CERTINA Automatic DS watch with date, in stainless-steel case running the 21-jewel cal. 25-451. The watch is running and kept very good time during brief period observed. Case: round shaped, stainless steel, tapered lugs - 35.6mm w/o crown [44.6mm lug2lug, ~19mm lug width] - unsigned crown [possibly a replacement] Case-back: screw-in solid stainless steel, pre-patent version (i.e. before the patent was granted for the DS case design, note the "Patent pending" engraving on the inside of the caseback in the last picture) Crystal: acrylic, in good shape with some minor and hairline scratches (see closeups in album) Dial: eggshell with yellowish patina throughout, some darker spots around the edges of the dial - date display at 3 3-hand analog display; silvertone dauphine hands, with central sweeping seconds Movement: 21-jewel Swiss-made automatic Certina cal. 25-451. Sets/runs and kept time during brief duration tested (accuracy not guaranteed). Service history unknown, therefore service is highly recommended.
