Description: Vintage 1970s Russian Hand painted oval Lacquer box/Fedoskino A charming probably 1970s vintage Russian lacquer box in oval shape measuring 13.5 x 10.5 cm (5.25 x 4.125 in.) in near fine condition and depicting a dancing peasant woodsman along with three dancing horses - which may represent a traditional Russian folk motif based on the fairy tale about the Magic Horse called Sivka-Burka. Hand-made and hand-painted in the village of Palekh in the 1970s. Please note - there is some crazing on the painted lid.
