Description: This listing features a two (2) cut specimen lot of very unusual, quite peculiar and mysterious petrified, highly agatized and jasperized fossil wood originating from Northern Nevada near the Oregon boorder! Both specimens display beautiful coloration, both on the exterior and interior of the fossil woods, and wood grain growth structure with cellular replacement via mineralization is evident within one specimen, while the larger petrified wood is truly a spectacular anomaly! The smaller fossil wood has a smoothed exterior from some water tumbled erosion showing coloration of pink, orange, and near black dark brown, gray and tan. The growth structure is clearly well defined and preserved. The larger specimen shows complete, usual wood growth structure on the exterior with some opalization. However, the interior is absolutely stunning! There are just a few random areas that show growth structure and rings, but a complex picture jasper breccia dominates the plank cut interior! The jasper is very similar to Disaster Peak Picture Jasper, both in coloration and pattern! I have seen very few petrified woods with such an odd jasper interior, nearly absent of any wood growth preservation! Together, both fossil wood specimens weigh 3 pounds 11.4 ounces. Individually, the petrified, agatized / jasperized woods weigh and measure 1.) 2 pounds 4.5 ounces, 132mm by 105mm by 67mm 2.) 1 pound 6.9 ounces, 111mm by 89mm by 55mm. All photos taken of the specimens while wet, excluding the final photo which show the petrified wood while dry. I will combine shipping for multiple purchases as long as the specimens can be packaged in a manner that minimizes the potential for damage.
