Description: This auction is for a vintage original silkscreen poster print of the art piece "This Woman Is Vietnamese" done in 1970 by Liliana Porter with a photograph by John Schneider. The piece is on matte paper and measures 27.25 inches by 19.25 inches. It shows the Schneider photograph of a Vietnamese woman with a gun to her head that ran in the Sunday, September 13, 1970 issue of The New York Times centered above words typed out in a typewriter font. The original art was signed and dated by Porter at the bottom. This piece of art was both a protest against the Viet Nam war and a provocation on marginalized groups in the world. It powerfully communicates that the persecution of women across borders and cultures was unfortunately a shared global experience at the time ... and remains so today. Liliana Porter was born in Argentina and currently resides in New York City. We are selling this for a local friend of ours whose passed husband was an immigration attorney. It has been stored for many years. Please see the photographs for complete details. Happy bidding!
