Description: The Obelisk, Central Park, New York (aka Cleopatra’s Needle) Colorful view of what is now commonly known as Cleopatra’s Needle (although not mentioned on the card). From the 15th Century BC (about a millennium and a half before Cleopatra), this 200 ton granite obelisk was a gift from the Khedive of Egypt and was erected in Central Park just west of the Met in 1881.
