Description: Up for sale is really great of set of ‘The History of the United States” by Edward Channing Volumes 1-6. It is in wonderful shape for books almost a century old and displays well. This set is dated 1926, and I picked up the set at the Lakewood Library annual Friends of the Library sale in Lakewood, Washington in the early 1990’s. It is NOT an Ex-library set. There are numerous maps and diagrams in the set. There is a great color fold-out map of the ‘United States in 1790’ in Ch XVII of Volume 6. Volume IIhas a beautiful color fold-out map ‘The Colonies in 1760’ that is in the back of the book and there could be more. The maps are in incredible shape like they have never been opened. I did not take pictures of the colored fold out maps because I did not want to take a chance on damaging them. These books have been very well cared for by all of the previous owners. These books have been in my library for well over 20 years and it is time to pass them on. I have listed any issues with the books I could find, and they are very minor. The name of what is probably the first owner is in the front of each book written in fountain pen, Guenevere Reed. Old pencil price markings are in the front cover page of each volume. On the back paper page of the cover of Volume 5 of the book, there is a date written in pen, June-2-1927 and the initials G.E.M. In the front of Volume 5, the cover is stil well attached but the paper has been separated from the cover; see the 11thpicture; it is not noticeable unless you open the book and does not affect the reading. Thank you for looking and please let me know if you have any questions. I do provide combined shipping for items purchased within 24 hours of each other if you let me know before I ship your item.
