Description: This fossil lobster, Thalassina anomala, comes from Gunn Point, Northern Territory, Australia. These lobsters are usually found encased in a hard substrate of calcareous clay. It is thought that the animals were buried alive in their tunnels during a catastrophic, or a series of catastrophic, events during the Holocene.This specimen consists of 6 leg segments, a thorax,and at least 7 tail segments.
