Presentation copy to the Veterans of the Seventh Regiment by the New York Historical Society, with presentation bookplate on pastedown. At the turn of the 20th Century, James Reuel Smith made bicycle excursions across New York City, photographing and chronicling its springs and well. In 1938, three years after his death, the New York Historical Society published this volume of his pictures and observations. Wear to the leather at the edges, some rub at the spine, mild creasing to a few page corners, Veterans of the Seventh Regiment stamp on pastedown, along with the same text handwritten boldly in marker, else a near fine example of a scarce book.
