In three different styles, two diamond patterns and a plain, they’re attractive, comfortable, woven in a fine gauge to be soft, smooth and breathable, but they’re also fully eco-friendly. The first socks of their kind, where every single element is made up of recycled materials, from the packaging to the product itself. Even the dyes we use are chosen to be non-harmful. With every single fibre coming from recycled sources, these ladies’ socks used to be 2.4 water bottles and 0.6 t-shirts (which would have otherwise ended up as landfill), and making them this way saves two years’ drinking water — that has to be a good thing! The industry currently uses enough water to quench the thirst of 110 million people for an entire year. Desertification12 million hectares of land are lost every year to desertification, which has been described as the world's worst climate issue. Cotton needs A LOT of water to be produced and this ultimately leads to desertification. One example is the desertification of the Aral Sea, where cotton production has entirely drained the water.Reduce Waste AccumulationAs fast fashion grows, clothing has become more disposable. A staggering 10,000 items of clothing are being sent to landfill every five minutesBreakdown of waste systemMany of the disposed clothes are not being reused or recycled but being swamped. Synthetic fibres are used in 72% of our clothing and these plastic fibres can take up to 200 years to decompose.
