Description: CHECK OUT OUR STORE FOR MORE HARD TO FIND, RARE AND SIGNED PHOTOGRAPHY BOOKS, PHOTOGRAPHS AND ART BOOK DESCRIPTION: New York: Farrar Straus & Giroux, 1978. Hardcover in acetate dust jacket. First Edition, First Printing. Folio. Unpaginated with 162 black and white photographic images throughout. Boldly SIGNED/INSCRIBED by Richard Avedon on the fep. BOOK CONDITION: Near Fine; a tight, clean copy with a few bumps to edges/corners of covers; in a Very Good dust jacket showing overall toning, rubbing, wear and hints of loss to edges and corners, and a 1 inch area of loss to lower spine. Overall, a nice SIGNED Copy. This highly sought after publication presents Avedon's early work from 1947 to 1977. In 1946, Avedon had set up his own studio and began providing images for magazines including Vogue and Life. He soon became the chief photographer for Harper's Bazaar. Avedon did not conform to the standard technique of taking fashion photographs (showing no emotion), instead he showed models full of emotion, smiling, laughing and many times in action. In 1966 he left Harper's to work as a staff photographer for Vogue, he then proceeded to become the lead photographer there and shot most of the covers from 1973 (until 1988).
