Description: Up for sale is a cool vintage mini-bottle of Seagram's V.O. Whisky bottled in 1963. It was "bottled expressly for Eastern Airlines". This bottle is noteworthy because although it is EMPTY, the tax strips (from Canada and from the United States) are unbroken and the metal twist off crown cap is unopened. It appears that all of the contents of the bottle disappeared through the process of evaporation! This bottle measures about 4.5 inches tall. There are two labels on the bottle. The larger front label has the Seagram's seal and name; it is likely a miniature version of the label that appeared on full size Seagram's V.O. whisky bottles at that time. The smaller front label shows the airline logo and the name "Eastern". There are two tax strips across the twist-off crown cap; they cross each other at a 90 degree angle (i.e. they are perpendicular). The blue one underneath is from Canada and has the year 1963. It has the printed signature of the Deputy Minister, National Revenue. On the other side, it has the number "4736452". On top of the Canadian tax strip is the red United States tax strip. On each end, this states "less than 1/2 pint". Each side states "U.S. Inter. Rev." One side states "(?) Tax Paid"; the other states "Distilled Spirits". In the center of the US tax strip (directly over the lid of the bottle) is an impressive eagle with spread wings. The bottle is of amber glass. There is a little smooth bump, or protrusion, on the back of the bottle (located below the right side of the small label). On the bottom of the bottle, the following are embossed: "BOTTLE MADE IN USA", "692", and "9". NOTE: Photo # 11 is taken with flash to better show these embossed markings. Comment # 1: Note that Seagram's uses the spelling "whisky", not "whiskey". The spelling "whisky" is used in Scotland, Canada, and Japan. Seagram's is a Canadian whisky. Comment #2: In 1963, the twist off crown cap was just beginning to come into use. It's easy to see how it may have been particularly appealing for use on an airline. One wonders if the design of this crown cap affected the rate of the evaporation of the whisky inside the bottle. Please see above for full description of condition and for photos. Sold as is.
