Description: The Maine "lobster" plates were issued starting July 1, 1987 with JUL 88 stickers. The Maine BMV allowed motorists to get the new lobster bases early if your existing plates expired prior to July of 1987. They were supposed to turn in their old plates. Somehow, this motorist was issued a pair of "off the shelf" plates and OCT 87 stickers. These unique stickers were black on yellow. Measures approximately 6" X 12". Heavily used condition with darkened reflectorized material, scuffs, scrapes, dents and other signs of use. Does not lay flat. Great opportunity to add to your license plate collection, birth year run, 50 State license plate set or display with your vintage vehicle, rat rod, bar, restaurant or "Man Cave".
