While there is certainly a place for such teaching, sometimes it's helpful to take a step back and look at the purpose of marriage and the spiritual significance it can play to help us grow in our spiritual journey with God. Your marriage is more than a sacred covenant with another person. It is a spiritual discipline designed to help you know God better, trust Him more fully, and love Him more deeply. In individual sessions we'll explore what it means to be a God centered spouse instead of a spouse centered spouse; we'll talk about the spiritual significance of two people building a sacred history together; we'll consider how our souls are shaped through the physical intimacy of sexual experience; and we'll discuss how marriage trains us to love with an extravagant love—the kind of love with which God loves us. The SADDLEBACK BIBLE STUDY SERIES will help you and your group members build greater health and balance in your lives. This curriculum will cultivate the purposes of the Church found in both the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:36-40) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).
