Description: Estate FindRoyal DoultonPlateRip Van WinkleSeries“The Draught Of Hollands”Arthur Rackham, Illustrator We offer a Royal Doulton plate from the Rip Van Winkle series introduced in 1907 based on the illustrations by Arthur Rackham.Titled “The Draught of Hollands”, the plate depicts one of seven known scenes in the series which was introduced in 1907 and continued until 1928.Arthur Rackham illustrated fifty-one scenes for the 1905 Heinemann version of Washington Irving's Rip Van Winkle tale of a man who drinks a magic potion of Hollands Gin and sleeps for twenty years.The plate is marked on the reverse D2788 which dates the plate to the first year production in 1907.The plate measures 10 1/2” in diameter and 1” in height. There is a pencil point size fleabite on the underside by the edge of the rim. The plate shows age appropriate crazing.The Royal Doulton Rip Van Winkle plate is presented in very good antique condition with no cracks, breaks or repairs.
