The contrast between Chastitys Glaswegian journey and the parallel criminal case back in Hamburg which her colleagues are embroiled in offers a subtle balance between the criminal and the personal and make this a fascinating and valuable addition to what is becoming a hell of an impressive series, helped along by Rachel Wards fluent translation."--Maxim Jakubowski, Crime Time Review Quote "Buchholz is a most elliptic and spare writer but her story arcs grow organically from her style and grow into something quite powerful and unique. Blue Night, 2. Beton Rouge, 3. Mexico Street, 4. Hotel Cartagena Comparisons from reviewers: "If James Joyce and Bruce Willis had a literary daughter, her name would be Simone Buchholz." "If Philip Marlowe and Bernie Gunther got together in a Hamburg speakeasy and had a literary love child, then that might just explain Chastity Riley." Excellent finale. Its not a classic crime thriller, but rather a crisis novel, the portrait of a damaged soul, a Hamburg-Scottish road movie in book form.
