Description: Rare circa 1959/60 Ping Redwood City mismarked Mod II putter, marked as a Mod IIA. This is an extremely rare version of the Redwood City Mod II as it is mismarked as a Mod IIA. Where the 'A' is next to the 'II' vice across the 'lateral' gap. Last pictures show the progression of Redwood City 'No Mod' Mod II, Mod II, and Mod IIA. Putter is 36 inches in length with a '11" stamped on its sole. Head is clean of any bag chatter, gauges, dents or other mars. These heads were wet sand casted, so may have some pitting from the casting process. Each head was hand shaped to ensure conformity to Karsten's standards of weight and balance. Its shaft is that of a golf iron (as this what Karsten could procure) so has a large first step of 11.5 inches vice the Scottsdale 7.5, 9.5, 10.5 inch steps. Grip is a Black Golf Pride Grip Rite grip, fully intact with no cracks or splits and intact black collar. Putter is in excellent shape for on that is close to 65+ years old. It is hard to find any of the Ping Redwood City putters in this outstanding condition. Own a piece of golf history that change the way putters were designed and made.
