Description: Landscape paintings are perhaps the most popular form of Chinese art, both in China and the U.S. The impressionism of the Lingnan style of Chinese painting is particularly effective in landscapes. This antique watercolor and ink reproduction print is from the early Quing Dynasty (1611-1700). The original artist is Yuan Wei Hua, a Chinese painter who excelled in still life landscapes. Painting Details: Magnificent old blue and white watercolor and ink vase with three necks that have purple flowers with yellow pollen. The leaves are painted blue to dark gray. The three neck blue and white vase has intricate repeating patterns of clouds and crosshatch designs. There are mountains and trees, a hut, and two Chinese men that are probably noblemen or scholars speaking to one another. A marbled grey, white, green, and blue background surrounds the vase with flowers. Beyond the background is a silver lined border. And then an off white or beige border of approximately 1 in or 2.54 cm. The print is dated, signed and described in the lower bottom of the print in Chinese. Within the background on the right lower side are the artist chop marks. In addition, the name of the artist, YUAN WEI HUA is displayed at the bottom of the print within the outer border. The watercolors and ink are commensurate with other early Quing Dynasty paintings during the period of 1611-1700. The approximate dimensions of the print: Height:11 in or 28 cm Width: 11 in or 28 cm Framing: I purchased this print several years ago. I recently added a new black wooden frame with a glass front and cardboard backing so that it could be displayed on a wall.
