Description: SAQA@20 Art & Excellence and A Sense of Humor -two books in one (BK1077) A Sense of Humor - To create humorous art, an artist must do more than tell a joke. As in any other art form, it is not just what is being told, so much as how it is told. The message must carry the flavor and personality of the artist. Artistic choices and techniques must be brought together and honed into a cohesive experience. While humor, like art, is a somewhat mysterious process and so perhaps should not be over-analyzed if it is to retain some joy, it is interesting to study a few commonalities between the artists and their works. SAQA@20 Art & Excellence - showcases the art and excellence of various quilt makers, For this exhibit I selected quilts by seasoned and new SAQA members from around the globe. I believe the diversity of the work exemplifies breadth of talent and skill in this organization and shows not only where we have been, but also where the art quilt movement is heading. I am hopeful that art quilts such as those in this exhibit inspire the next generation to pick up a needle and celebrate our art form.
