Description: This is an embroidered iron-on patch. It is pre-owned but unused as the iron-on fusing is fully in tact. It is the Presidential Physical Fitness Award year 1 patch. It is round and measures 3 inches in diameter. It is a fabric patch with a blue background and the Presidential Seal in gold, red, white and blue embroidery. The first year award is represented by a red band with a white numeral 1 above the eagle's head. The blue patch was awarded to students who participated in the Presidential Fitness Test and scored in the top 15 percentile in all 5 categories of the test. The Presidential Award for Fitness was established in 1966 and was replaced by a different program in 2013. Iron-on patches were introduced in the 1970's. The patch design remained the same throughout the duration of the award program. The patch itself has no date and is not accompanied by the companion certificate. It is in like new condition.
