Description: Superbly crafted, 9 lb. metate, and 1 lb. mano. Pecked, ground, and super smoothed, both pieces are exceptionally crafted. There are various concave indentations placed around the entire metate for added grip strength if hand held. The 9 lb granite metate can be used as alap instrument as well. There are several distinctly conspicuous images also.The 1 lb. mano is made of granite and is also exceptionally sculpted. Both implements are important examples of ancient craftsmanship; truly collector's artifacts. Found "as is" in East Multnomah County, Oregon near the Columbia River Gorge.
