Cover ~ Brown cloth hardcover with faded embossed lettering on the front cover (see 2nd photo). Number of Pages ~ 104 pages with Index. Illustrated ~ with charts. Book measures about ~ 8 3/4 inches X 5 3/4 inches X 1/2 inch. Condition ~ Acceptable. This book has some edgewear and some marks on the cover. The front and back gutters are split (the pages ARE tight). There are some light stains on the inside front and back covers and flyleaves and a few other pages. There are a few small edge chips on a couple of blank pages in the very back. The pages have tanned slightly over time but mostly ARE clean. Otherwise this Book is in Acceptable condition! (Considering that this book is more than 140 years old, it's in pretty good condition!) About the Book ~"This Hand~Book embraces the names of all the officials of the county since 1752, and of the county~seat ~ Reading ~ since its incorporation as a city in 1847. They are arranged separately in complete lists so as to avoid the frequent repetition of the name, and to give at a glance the service, of the same person in an office. It embraces also tables of Census and Election Returns of the county and county~seat by districts. It is Not a political history of the county, nor a dissertation on political parties and questions as they prevailed in the county from the first settlements to present time [1883].
