Worn during the Indian Wars and through the SpanishAmerican War and Philippine insurrection. So, worn between 1880 and 1902.This is an all original example.These are very rare. Only approximately 6000 were made.They were originally made in this khaki cotton material andwere sometimes later painted over with white paint. Has it's original size sticker within, 7 1/8.These Model 1880 helmets are distinctive by their unique shape (as opposed to the taller later models),and by the green string that is laced within the interior leather band. Original string present. No chinstrap.Green lining is torn and separating in areas on the inside, but not missing. See photos.
