Description: Listed Italian Engraver, Etcher and Publisher Matteo Gregorio Rossi (1638-1702) created these 2 Views of Roman Fountains and Plazas, in matching frames. They are etchings, possibly reprinted and published in the early 20th C. They may be older as there is minor yellowing, a bit like foxing (brown spots), but we do not believe them to be any earlier than the late 19th C. The first piece is - "Fontana sv La Piazza di Monte Cavallo Avanti il Palazzo Pontifico" - Fountain at The Square of Monte Cavallo, in front of the Pontific Palace, and the second piece is - Fontana nella Piazza della Rotondo - Fountain in the Square of the Rotunda (looking like the Pantheon in Rome - see inscription on portico). Beautiful and historical views of 17th century Rome!1 5/8" Wide Antiqued Gold moulding with a Dark Brown Flat Panel, bead decorations around the inner edge and egg and dart on the outside edge, Dark Green Velvet mat and glass are included in this listing.Image openings measures 9 1/4 X 12 1/4 and is in Very Good Vintage condition.Outside measure of the frames are 16 1/2 X 19 3/4 and is in Good Vintage condition w/ some damage on one frame - retouched.Please carefully examine all images for condition.Apologies for glare or reflection in images due to photographing under glass.
