Description: Pair of Sitzendorf Hand Painted Dresden Style Figurine Candle Sticks Circa 1887-1900 Pair of large porcelain candlesticks / candle holders in the Dresden style. One is of a hand painted figurine of Colonial /Georgian lady in a white gown with blue flowers and gold highlights, with a black hat. She is holding a large basket. The other is of a Colonial / Georgian man holding a basket. Both of the candlesticks and baskets are heavily encrusted with cobalt blue and white roses. With gold gilt highlights around the base and the sockets. Both candle sticks are marked with an underglaze blue crossed hatch mark on the base, used by Sitzendorf between 1887 and 1900. Her right hand has been broken off and is missing. There is some wear to the gold gilding and this has several chips to the floral encrustation, which is common for this type of porcelain. The male figure candle stick has several chips to the floral encrustation as well and some minor wear to the gilding, but no chips or cracks. The girl measures approximately 6 5/8 inches wide x 14 3/4 inches tall. The boy measures approximately 6 1/2 inches wide x 14 5/8 inches tall. These are antiques and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the pieces. Click here to see more Dresden Style porcelain we have for sale.
