Description: Original Playboy Cartoon ArtCirca 1960's BySmilby (Francis Wilford-Smith) Up for sale is an original preliminary cartoon for Playboy done in ink and watercolor. It features a Cast Away theme. The caption is "Take me to your Hilton."This piece was done by renowned British cartoonist Francis Wilford-Smith (1927-2009) who went by the pen name "Smilby", who did work for Playboy for over 30 years. He also did work for Esquire, The New Yorker and many other publications. I am unsure if he got the ok for a published version of this piece or if it only made it to this "rough" stage. The piece is in excellent condition, with some creasing in the lower right corner and measures a large 11" x 15". It would look great framed. This is a great investment. One of Smilby's published originals recently sold at Heritage for $3,500! There is no reserve on this auction! High bidder please add $11.00 for Priority mail postage in the US, which includes insurance. If you live in NYC and would like to pick up the art, there would be no postage charge. Please check out my other auctions. High bidders in multiple auctions need to only pay once for postage. Postage outside of the US will be $50 for Global Priority Mail, and insurance and tracking is not included. Thanks and GOOD LUCK!!!
