Description: An original 2-sided preliminary drawing with pencil and watercolour on one side, and pencil and pen to the reverse, by Orlando the Marmalade Cat author and illustrator, Kathleen Hale (1898-2000). On the side of the paper with watercolour, in Hale's hand is written 'Twinkle loves school & wished there weren't any holiday, He won a prize for drawing & tried hard to do sums.' I'm not sure if this was a preliminary drawing for an unpublished or published Orlando book. I bought this drawing from book and art specialists, Dominic Winter Auctioneers, who are based in the Cotswolds.The drawing had been consigned to the sale by the Hale family. I have listed separately a small amount of original artwork by Kathleen Hale. Condition:Please study the photos carefully regarding condition. The drawing is on paper measuring approx. 20cm x 20cm. Glue marks and wear to the side of the drawing that has the watercolour. No tears but some thinning of the paper.
