Description: PRINTS BOOKS PHOTOGRAPHS MANUSCRIPTS CURIOSITIES - ONE OF HIS FINAL LETTERS: "I HOPE YOU MAY FEEL REWARDED FOR YOUR GENEROSITY BY THE KNOWLEDGE THAT YOU ARE FACILITATING THE TRAINING OF THE REINFORCEMENTS WHICH ARE NEEDED TO SUPPORT OUR GALLANT SOLDIERS AT THE SEAT OF WAR." -FIELD MARSHALL ROBERTS (Frederick Sleigh, a British Victorian era general who became one of the most successful British military commanders of his time, 1832-1914).A rare WW1-related letter - and one of his last - from Field Marshall Roberts, four weeks before he died, 14th October, 1914.Typed letter signed 'F.M. Roberts in black ink, written on one side of a single sheet of folio-sized writing paper, with printed address header 'Englemere / Ascot / Berks.' Wove paper watermarked 'Hodgkinson Co'. 1863'. Dated '14th October, 1914'. Addressed to 'Dear Mr. Chadwick'. Recipient's address typed at foot of letter. Size: 25.5cm x 20.5cm.Very Good condition. Folds for mailing, and light overall creasing. Some offsetting of signature ink just below date line. Light age-toning to folds. Top two panels on rear of letter with slightly more pronounce age-toning. No tears or stains. A nicely preserved letter. Please ask if you require a more detailed condition report, or view gallery images.Letters from Roberts written during WW1, and with WW1, content are exceptionally rare, as he died less than 3 months after the outbreak of the conflict. key words:
