It is stretchy enough and has enough of a corset that it can take some fluctuation in size without you having to run off to buy another dress. The gown is new with tags and I did find a small bit of shelf wear smudging on the very top of one strap, which may wash out but I just have not tried. It is also invisible during wear because people won't be looking straight over your shoulder and that is the only way it is visible.
