In fact, these days ... this Show has become even ' renewed ' with popularity among Grateful Dead Fans, and especially those of the younger generation -- and has taken on a ' new-name ' ... and, a Grate ! one, at that --- " Sunshine Daydream " !!! So, here's the scoop ... this 1-CD Set offers the New Riders Of The Purple Sage " Opening-Show " Set ! for the Grateful Dead on this very-special & simply Magical ! day in Sunny ! & Hot !! Veneta, Oregon on August 27, 1972. The cover of this CD, along with the " Picture Disc " style really does a very nice job of summing it up ! Ha ! This one was recorded by Bob Matthews ( who also recorded the Grateful Dead Show on this day ) - it is re-mastered by Stephen Barncard - and was transferred by Jeff Norman. And last but not least ... the cover art is from the Kesey Family !!! The New Riders definitely rise to the call on this special occasion, and truly deliver a Smokin'-Hot Set ! The deep jam on " Willie And The Hand Jive " really makes you wonder why these guys didn't actually earn a higher-spot in live Rock n' Roll History ? They can flat-out play, and deliver a Brilliant & Blissful ! set !! What a Magical-Day ! 8/27/72 must have been in Good Ol' Veneta.
