Description: Never Send Flowers, 1993 first edition first impression hardback of Ian Fleming's James Bond, written by Fleming's successor John Gardner and by the original publisher Hodder & Stoughton (NOT the later and much more common Guild and Book Club editions). Book in nice condition, unmarked boards, clean pages. Owner name and date to front blank endpaper. Very good jacket, no tears, small faint stain to lower front edge of jacket. John Gardner was appointed by Glidrose, (owners of the copyright) to continue Ian Fleming's Bond novels and this title is one of 16 that he wrote. (As a journalist, I met and interviewed John Gardner soon after his first Bond book Licence Renewed was published in 1981 and I recall him telling me he wanted to stay true to the Bond character, but also develop it.) He did just that: 'Just as enjoyable as the originals.' - London Evening Standard. Gardner's series of Bond novels are compellingly written and true first editions are increasingly appreciated and collected. This is a good all original UK first edition.
