Description: This book is remarkable in a couple of ways. Firstly, the illustrations are really cool, especially the color plates. Secondly, the book is inscribed in two places - "Tom Wilson London 1982". I don't know how to verify it, but most likely this is Tom Wilson the highly decorated Air Force fighter pilot and well known military novelist. This book would be a super addition to the library of any enthusiast of Native American art and artifacts - historians, researchers and collectors. Size of this volume is 11 1/4" x 8 1/2". 80 pages. There are 6 full page color plates and about 15 full page black and white plates, plus some more smaller illustrations in black and white. Most illustrations are pipes and tomahawks. I believe all of these plates are the work of George Catlin - perhaps the top dog in illustrating and documenting Native Americans and their art. Additionally the book has a presentation/printing of a letter from George Catlin in 1839 - "Journey to the Coteau des Prairies, &c." This listing is for one original, complete, hardcover book.
