Description: McClellan's Own Story: The War For the Union, The Soldiers Who Fought It, The Civilians Who Directed It, and His Relations to it and to Them by George B. McClellan. Published in 1887 by McClellan's wife after the general had passed. This copy is a FIRST EDITION. The spine reads "Illustrated" as well. Navy blue boards are in excellent shape with minor scuffing/rubbing on front and back. The corners are bumped and there is some wear to the cloth at the head and tail of the spine. There is a slight wrinkle to the cloth on the front cover. The gilt titling and design on the front and spine still look clear and excellent. There is a former owner's name on the first page as well as some pencil markings. Stray pencil mark across the front page ends. The pages and page ends display toning from age, but the pages themselves are unmarked and in good condition. The hinges are in great shape as well. The spine is straight and the binding is holding up well, especially for the age. A very fine, excellent condition example of this important work.
