Description: I own a specialty advertising company, now in our 46th year in business. For much of that time as well for many years prior to establishing my own company, what was formerly "The Bell System" was our best account. After divestiture and it was broken up, we continued doing business with Southern Bell, BellSouth, OFS, Lucent Technologies, Avaya, etc. Over the years I collected a great deal of items with all of the above logos / many one-of-a-kind samples. We are now semi-retired and selling some of our collection. We sold Lucent many wearables. Frequently I would see a style from one of my clothing suppliers, order a sample and have my embroiderer make a one-of-a-kind sample. I would then show the special sample to several Lucent customers in the hope that they would buy others. Sometimes that worked; sometimes it did not. Here is an example of when it did not. First a bit about the garment. Pine Island Sportswear was a recognized industry supplier of quality goods. This polo is in 100% combed mercerized cotton and made in the U.S.A. Mercerized cotton feels better, wears better, wears longer, looks better and is the only cotton yarn with established and controlled standards. I had the logo embroidered in silver for a subtle look. It is in an unusual weave for a clever effect. Other features include a 3 pearl button placket, matching knit black collar and sleeves and taped neck. Factory hang tag attached. This was an expensive high-end garment at the time. As indicated, this was a one-of-a-kind sample, never used and in as new condition with no flaws, etc. The size is a large, with approximate measurements of: 22" across the shoulders 23.5" under the arm pit 32" from the neck to the bottom Oh yes, the reason my customers at Lucent Technologies did not purchase this style - They felt the silver logo was too subtle. Almost all of the other logoed garment we produced for them used the two color black & red Lucent logo. Frankly, the subtle effect was one of the traits I liked most...but they were the customer.
