Description: This week, Iām auctioning off some choice examples of comic book and comic strip original art. There should be something for everyone here. The syndicated comic strip "Little Orphan Annie," featuring the world's pluckiest unsupervised child, ran from the Nineteen Twenties until fairly recently, and is one of the most iconic comic strips of all time, forming the basis for multiple movies and Broadway musicals as well. For much of its run, it was written and illustrated by Harold Gray, whose arch-conservative wordlview was controversial in his day and would be even more so today. After his death, the strip was handled by a variety of artists, including Leonard Starr. Starr probably came closest among Gray's successors to maintaining the quality of the strip, plunging Annie into a number of exciting adventures. The strip was an entertaining and outspoken soap opera, and was set in a wide variety of settings. At its peak, it appeared in more than a thousand newspapers daily. The strip is still fondly remembered. Here I have a daily strip by Leonard Starr dated May 4, 1984, measuring 5 3/4 x 17. It's in great shape and is a nice example of this series. It's ready to frame and display! Shipping is $10.00 for Priority Mail. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
