Description: Life and Death of The Wicked Lady Skelton by Magdalen King-Hall Hardcover 1946. A surprisingly modern, and unjustly forgotten book, based on folktales surrounding the "wicked lady" Ferrers, a 17th century lady, who, according to local folklore, lived a secret life as a Highwayman or Highwaywoman. Adapted for the screen twice. A 1983 version starred Faye Dunaway. A good read for historical adventure lovers with a bit of romance thrown in. The book is in good condition. No dust jacket. Pages have yellowed a bit in 77 years, but no writing, underlining, highlighting, or torn or missing pages. No stains or water damage. A few dark marks on back cover. Inside front cover is stamped with the name "R. F. Kafka" - Franz Kafka perhaps?
