Description: A superb coticule whetstone hand selected for me years ago by Rob Celis, the current mine operator. This is from the vein La Petite Blanche which is a more standard "natural combo" coticule with a BBW layer. This BBW layer is mixed with Rogue du Salm / Lorraine particles and performs finer than the actual coticule side. Both are capable of finishing razors, the standard white coticule side will be faster than the BBW in this case. This is a great workhorse stone, as it can do anything you want between both sides and transitioning from water to oil and varying pressure (this sets bevels for razors very well with pressure on the standard white coticule side). If you are unfamiliar, coticules can be used with oil without issue as they are not porous, so none gets sucked within (allowing you to switch from oil to water with a simple wash off of the surface). My stone collection size has gone up drastically and some of these more private collector pieces need to find new homes. I've used it for many years now and while it has brought me joy during that time, I have learned coticules just don't speak to me as much as I wish they did. As such, this great piece is up for someone else's ownership. It measures 201x59x21mm @ 834g. Given its wear rate, this should easily last a lifetime and more.
