The world famous Birch Aquarium at Scripps is just up the street as well as the University of California San Diego UCSD. The sand is a very fine powder. There is approximately 2 tablespoons (tbsp) or 30 milliliters (ml) in each 2"x3" bag. Great purchase to add to your collection of minerals, sand, gravel, rocks, pebbles or other geological items.
