Description: Josef Albers: His Work as Contribution to Visual Articulation in the Twentieth Century, by Eugen Gomringer. 1968, First edition in English. Hardcover, white cloth, 11 x 12.5 inches. Published by George Wittenborn. Complete, with 16 bound-in color serigraph prints printed on a heavier wove paper, including images from the Homage to the Square and Variant series, in addition to hundreds of other illustrations. The serigraphs were printed in New York using the original "serigraph plates" (i.e., the silk screens) from Ives-Sillman. The image size of the Homage to the Square serigraphs is 8.75 inches square. The ones from the other series are a little smaller. All 16 serigraph plates are shown in the photos. Complete copies of this book are pretty uncommon, as the high quality plates are sometimes removed for individual sale or framing. In Good to Very Good condition. Overall, the printed areas of the serigraph plates are in excellent condition, with bold, clean colors. There is some foxing to the margins of a few of them, but it does not intrude to the printed area. Other light foxing throughout, including the covers and endpapers. The binding is secure and the text is unmarked. There is a faint basement/musty odor.
