It measures between 4"-8" inches in length which tapers to a rounded point. Upon maturity, the pepper becomes orange then red in color. Although similar in appearance to banana peppers when immature, it is a different cultivar.What do Hungarian wax peppers taste like?What's the hot wax pepper taste like? These are excellent peppers to cook with, let's say that first. They are very flavorful and slightly tangy-sweet with that mild heat layered on top. They grow pretty easily in lots of climates and work in lots of dishes.Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost and transplant into garden well after the danger of frost. Keep seedlings moist but do not overwater. Transplants should be initially watered in well, and plants will be most productive with regular irrigation and full sun.Sow seeds in flats or pots 8 to 10 weeks prior to the expected outdoor planting date. Sow them shallowly, around 1/4 inch deep.
