He spent several terms after his retirement at Nashotah House, an Anglo-Catholic seminary of the Episcopal Church in Wisconsin where he was believed to be very popular with students. Michael Ramsey, taken an hour after his enthronement. Includes List of the Archbishops of Canterbury From the Consecration of St. Augustine from 597 A.D. to 1961, and Index. Black and white illustrated endpapers, with front endpapers featuring Lambeth Palace, London, and the back endpapers featuring Canterbury Cathedral. Deckled fore-edges. First Edition "A vivid biography of Arthur Michael Ramsey, - head of the worldwide Anglican Communion - an authoritative portrait of the man and his ideas against the background of family, friends, colleagues, and places of importance in his life and work" [from the front of the dust jacket]. Book is in Very Good Plus Condition: As noted, inscriptions on the front free endpaper and the half-title page; otherwise, the pages and photographs are bright, clean, tight and unmarked. Dust Jacket is in Fair Condition: former owner, to prevent further wear along the top and bottom edges ran tape neatly along them but quite obvious, particularly on the inside of the dust jacket, but did enable both the photos on the front and back sections to remain intact. Also, as noted, price-clipped and with small pastedown by the original owner at the top of the clipped front flap. Extremely Scarce double-inscribed copy.
