Description: For sale, Germany gray stoneware stein with blue salt glaze. This stein originally had a pewter lid but has since been broken off at the hinge. May have been done during war. The lid hinge is still attached to handle. There is also a puncture type chip on the bottom of the stein. This puncture chip does not penetrate to the inside. It looks like the chip has been glazed over so it may have been done by manufacturer. This stein is marked Germany on the bottom and has several other unknown markings. The raised relief on the stein depicts a man and woman sitting together and the words written below in German "Schone Zeit, O Zeit Der Liebe" In English "The Time of Love Is a Lovely Time". The top of the rim is a little rough from closing the lid over time. The stein is about 8.5" tall. This is a very nice vintage, possibly antique blue glazed German stein. It would be a great addition to a collection or as a home decor piece. See photos for a visual description.
