Signed "King". -Description: This is the original artwork for the September 20, 1920 daily comic strip Gasoline Alley, written and drawn by Frank O. King. This daily features Doc, who has recently had his car stolen, and a car salesman, trying to sell Doc a Bam-Bam coupe, which is something of a mystery car (even to the salesman). Titled "Sh! Not a word to the gang!", this is a nicely rendered classic comic strip by a true master and legend of the art form. From the first two years of the strip, pre-Skeezix, when the strip focused on the joys and tribulations of car ownership. Probably one of the earliest GA strip ever offered on eBay, and the earliest currently available anywhere. The strip is reprinted in Walt Before Skeezix 1918-1920 (2014, Drawn and Quarterly Publications). Ex-Frank King Estate. BLR Condition: The art is in very good overall condition. Moderate age/handling wear (stains, spots, etc.). Edge and corner wear and erosion to board (does not affect art). Tack holes to margins. Pencil notes to margins.
